                • 　  《失乐园》是弥尔顿一生中最伟大的诗作，它借用圣经故事③用史诗的形式表现了人类最初的演变和人类历史上反复出现的变革斗争。全书共十二卷，描述了撒旦反抗上帝战败后设计复仇，偷入上帝创造的伊甸园，引诱夏娃偷食禁果，以致人类始祖被逐出伊甸乐园，开始沉沦的故事。诗篇大量运用圣经人物意象，将撒旦和亚当夏娃刻画得栩栩如生，从而也将主题表现得淋漓尽致。
